grave of Reverend Daniel Tucker. As a minister, Tucker felt a special
calling towards the area's slaves, who in return memorialized him with the
famous spiritual "Old Dan Tucker." The grave of Old Dan Tucker
is just one of the many treasures along the backroads of north and south
Georgia. Outside of Chatsworth, in the mountainous northwestern corner of
the state, is an ancient and mysterious stone wall whose builders have yet
to be determined. Further south in LaGrange is the training ground of the
Nancy Harts_an all-female Confederate militia unit. And in Marshallville,
right in the heart of Georgia, is the home of Samuel Henry Rumph, who gave
birth to Georgia's commercial peach industry with a basketful of mummified
seeds. These stories and more await you along the book's fifteen tours.
