GARMIN's NavTalkTM is the ultimate in
outdoor survival gear: a combination analog cellphone and GPS
receiver.
In addition to being a full-featured GPS receiver, NavTalk is a
high-performance cellular phone with exceptional features such as touch-tone
location reporting (including the ability to send your exact
position and have it displayed on another unit), numeric paging,
an electronic "phone book" capable of 100
entries, and intelligent security lock capability. One-touch
dialing and a message center which collects
missed calls and pager messages for easy retrieval make operating the
NavTalk even more enjoyable.
NavTalk's GPS position reporting shows exactly where you're calling
from on a high-resolution backlit display, and the GPS
receiver technology is the same patented high-performance twelve
parallel channel receiver found in the world-renowned GPS III
Plus. The database comes complete with an extensive internal basemap
including cities, plus millions of miles of roads
and highways across the entire United States, Canada, and South America.
For even more detail simply plug it into a PC and download data
from GARMIN's line of MapSource™
CD ROM's and you instantly get detailed maps.
Whether you're cruising the streets, exploring the wilderness, or
pounding the waves, GARMIN has the detailed maps you need. Choose the
"U.S. Roads and Recreation"
CD for city street level detail and even inland marine
features such as lake and river shorelines, boat ramp and marina
locations. For your backcountry adventures choose GARMIN's "United
States TOPO" CD-ROM maps which are similar to
U.S. Geological Survey 1:100,000-scale topographic paper maps and
contain highways, roads, hiking trails, snowmobile trails, backwoods
trails, elevation contours, point elevations, summits, lakes, reservoirs,
small bodies of water, waterways, rivers, streams, and nautical
navaids. Garmin's "World Map"
gives you worldwide coverage of coastlines, including a database of
coastal cities, navaids and inland roads.
As an added feature, you can sign up for the optional First
AssistTM one-touch emergency service*.
Then, with the push of the red '9' button, your location is transmitted
and you're automatically connected to a response center which sends help
to your location.
Finally, two proven technologies are combined for unmatched
performance. NavTalk: It's the talk of the town.
*First Assist is an optional service available at an additional
fee.

GARMIN
MapSource™ CD-ROMs
MapSource™ CDs provide high level detail
of roads, recreational areas, coastlines, navaids, lakes, boat ramps,
topography and more. An optional PC Interface cable allows you to
download MapSource™ CD Data between your PC and NavTalk. MapSource™
software also allows you to view color maps on a personal computer, with
zoom and pan functions for easy map browsing. Users can then select
individual maps in areas of interest and transfer the maps to a compatible
GARMIN GPS product. Presently these units are the eMap, GPS 12Map, GPS III
Plus, StreetPilot GPS, StreetPilot ColorMap GPS, and NavTalk.
Think of MapSource™ as an atlas that contains many
smaller maps. By choosing several of these maps, you can make a map
set. This map set can then be transferred to your GARMIN GPS, which
allows you to tailor the map detail for the geographic areas you wish to
view. For instance, if you are planning a trip by car, your map set might
only need to include those maps that are along your intended driving
route. MapSource gives you the flexibility to choose the extent of the
mapping coverage.
Use the trip and waypoint manager functions to create
waypoints, routes, and tracks, and transfer them between your GARMIN GPS
and your PC. This is excellent for planning your next outdoor adventure,
business trip, vacation, or recreational outing without ever leaving your
house.
System Requirements: Pentium processor with Windows 95,
Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, or Windows XP, Windows ME; 32MB RAM
minimum; between 300 MB and 1.5GB free hard disk space; CD-ROM drive; available
