The Garmin StreetPilot III GPS follows in the footsteps of the original
StreetPilot GPS and StreetPilot ColorMap GPS as a portable automotive GPS
navigation system with electronic map capabilities. But it goes a step
further by adding turn-by-turn navigation and voice prompting
on a 16-color, higher-resolution display.
Unlike other in-car navigation systems that boast portability, the
StreetPilot III does not require monthly service fees, installation, or an
external processor. Instead, consumers can download street-level mapsets
from GARMIN PC-based MapSource CD-ROMs onto a removable memory cartridge,
insert the card into the StreetPilot III, mount the system on the dash of
any vehicle, and enjoy the ease of stress-free driving. It is the most
convenient, portable auto-navigation system on the market, and it's
available at a fraction of the price of in-dash navigation systems.
The Garmin StreetPilot III GPS offers true turn-by-turn navigation
in America's major cities with its auto-routing feature. At
the touch of a button, consumers will now have access to the shortest and
fastest routes, turn directions, and estimated time of arrival at their
intended destination. Along the way, the StreetPilot III provides automated
voice prompts, alerting the driver to necessary turns, distance to
upcoming turns, course deviation, and distance to final destination.

III User's Manual, Quick-Start Guide, or USB Programming Manual
The Garmin StreetPilot III GPS is everything you
want in an automotive navigation system - automatic route capability,
voice prompts and large color display. And it's portable, so you can
use it in multiple vehicles. StreetPilot III is ideal for business
or recreational travel, especially in metropolitan areas where you need
detailed maps and information.

Now you can have the best in automotive satellite
navigation right on your dash. The Garmin StreetPilot III uses Global
Positioning System (GPS) satellites to pinpoint your location anywhere in
the world, 24 hours a day.
View your position in real time on the colorful
electronic map. Select a destination and StreetPilot III will
automatically calculate a route and provide turn-by-turn directions and
voice prompts to guide you to your destination. Whether your travels
take you across the country or right across town, you're going to love
going places with StreetPilot III.

displays points of interest such as food and drink, lodging, attractions,
entertainment, shopping, and emergency services. This map detail and data
may be viewed on both the personal computer and with data downloaded to
StreetPilot III. City Navigator is included with the StreetPilot III

MapSource™ CD-ROMs*
MapSource™ CDs provide high level detail
of roads, recreational areas, coastlines, navaids, lakes, boat ramps,
topography and more. A PC Interface cable is enclosed with each
StreetPilot III GPS to allow you to download MapSource™ CD Data between
your PC and StreetPilot III GPS. MapSource™ software also allows
you to view color maps on a personal computer, with zoom and pan functions
for easy map browsing. Users can then select individual maps in areas of
interest and transfer the maps to the StreetPilot III GPS or other
compatible GPS.
Think of MapSource™ as an atlas that contains many
smaller maps. By choosing several of these maps, you can make a map
set. This map set can then be transferred to your GARMIN GPS, which
allows you to tailor the map detail for the geographic areas you wish to
view. For instance, if you are planning a trip by car, your map set might
only need to include those maps that are along your intended driving
route. MapSource gives you the flexibility to choose the extent of the
mapping coverage.
Use the trip and waypoint manager functions to create
waypoints, routes, and tracks, and transfer them between your GARMIN GPS
and your PC. This is excellent for planning your next outdoor adventure,
business trip, vacation, or recreational outing without ever leaving your
house.
System Requirements: Pentium processor with Windows 95,
Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, or Windows XP, Windows ME; 32MB RAM
minimum; between 300 MB and 1.5GB free hard disk space; CD-ROM drive; available
serial port; 256 color display adapter and monitor (24 bit recommended); and
mouse or other pointing device; PC Interface cable.
